The film “First Ride”, starring actor Kang Ha-neul, drew 82,687 viewers on its opening day, taking the No. 1 spot at the Korean box office.

It dethroned Japan’s “Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc”, which had held the top position for three consecutive weeks.

The film also surpassed the opening score of “Firefighter” (81,673 viewers), which went on to attract 3.85 million viewers.

Following Kang Ha-neul’s previous hit “Yadang” (3.37 million viewers), the comedy is drawing strong attention for its solid performance.

Amid the prolonged popularity of Japanese animation, the film is being hailed as a turning point for Korean cinema’s resurgence.
